The Finlumio Team

Why we built Finlumio

Finlumio started with a frustration we heard from firm after firm: the advisory work was already happening, but clients never really saw it.

A partner would spend an afternoon reconstructing a client's cash position, spot a receivables problem, and email a spreadsheet. Two weeks later the client would ask the same question again. The insight was real. The delivery was a dead end.

The gap wasn't expertise

Most firms we talked to were already doing the hard part. They understood their clients' businesses, knew where the cash was going, and could see trouble coming a quarter out. What they lacked was a way to put that understanding in front of a client continuously — not once a year at tax time, and not buried in an attachment.

The tools that existed asked firms to choose. Generic dashboards carried a vendor's brand and treated the accountant as an afterthought. Building something in-house meant hiring engineers most firms don't want to manage.

What we set out to build

We wanted a platform that did three things well:

  • Refresh the numbers on its own. Cash flow, receivables, and job margins pulled from QuickBooks Online every night, so the client always sees something current.
  • Carry the firm's name, not ours. A client logs into their accountant's portal at the firm's own subdomain. Finlumio runs quietly underneath.
  • Stay honest about scope. We'd rather ship a dashboard that's genuinely daily-fresh than promise ten modules that are half-built.

Finlumio is the result. It's built by accountants, for firms that want the advisory relationship to be something a client logs into — not something they have to be reminded exists. That's the whole idea, and everything we add gets measured against it.
